Matt Birk has returned to the Minnesota Vikings after skipping the voluntary portion of the team's offseason program.
The Vikings are holding a mandatory mini-camp this weekend, and the Pro Bowl center was there in uniform saying he wants to stay in Minnesota.
Birk is entering the final year of his contract with the Vikings and would like to reach an extension. But he says he is not upset with his contract status and he feels fortunate to be entering his 11th season in the NFL.
Birk says family matters also played a role in his decision to stay away this spring. He wanted to spend as much time as he could with his wife and children before the rigorous season begins.
