Gopher Women Beats St. Mary's Of California, 98-72
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ―
Katie Ohm and Brittany McCoy both beat their career records in points as Minnesota won its seventh straight game with a 98-72 victory over St. Mary's of California on Monday night.
Ohm led the Gophers with 21 points while McCoy scored 17. Emily Fox added 15 for the Gophers, including a pair of baskets in a key stretch midway through the second half that stopped a comeback attempt by the Gaels.
Minnesota was in control much of the game, leading by as many as 21 points in the first half before St. Mary's rallied. The Gaels pulled to within 59-52 with 13:03 remaining on a basket from Louella Tomlinson.
That's when Fox went to work, scoring a basket, feeding McCoy for a layup, and nailing a long three-point basket from the left wing for a 66-52 Minnesota lead.
Ashley Ellis-Milan had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Gophers, who haven't lost since falling at Stanford in their regular season opener.
Brianna Chambers scored 18 to lead St. Mary's, with Alex Carbonel adding 14 points.
