Lynx Knocked Out Of Postseason Contention

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) ― The Minnesota Lynx are out of postseason contention.

The Lynx lost to the Monarchs 78-71 in Sacramento.

Nicole Powell had 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the Monarchs boosted their playoff chances.

Beijing Olympic gold medalist Kara Lawson added 17 points for Sacramento.

The Monarchs overcame their inconsistent offense early and received significant contributions from five reserves to pull off a key victory. The bench accounted for 31 points.

Charde Houston scored 19 points and Seimone Augustus added 14 for the Lynx, who dropped their fourth straight.

Candice Wiggins, the former Stanford All-American and Lynx rookie, made her lone trip back to Northern California this season with Minnesota. Wiggins scored 13 points on 6-for-17 shooting and dished out three assists.
