The Twins were told Thursday that catcher Joe Mauer has won the 2009 Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger award. He has won the award three times since 2006.
The 26-year-old had 28 home runs, 96 RBI, .365 batting average and led the American League in batting for the third time in his career.
The 2009 award represents the 13th time that a Twin has won the award. Award winners include Kirby Puckett, Chuck Knoblauch, Paul Molitor, and Justin Morneau.
Award winners are determined by a vote of Major League Baseball coaches and managers.
