The Minnesota Lynx acquired former No. 1 overall draft pick LaToya Thomas from the Detroit Shock on Sunday in exchange for Shay Murphy, giving the Lynx three former top picks on their roster.
Thomas was the No. 1 pick of the Cleveland Rockers in 2003. She averaged just 1.1 points and 0.7 rebounds in sparse minutes for the Shock this season and will be playing for her fifth team in six years.

"We are bringing in the top overall pick in the 2003 WNBA draft, and we feel that LaToya can be a big contributor to this team as we strive to return to the playoffs this season," Lynx general manager Roger Griffith said in a statement. "We also believe that Shay can be a solid player in the WNBA, and we really wanted to provide her with an opportunity to show that."
Murphy was Minnesota's second-round pick in 2007 and had appeared in only two games this season for the Lynx, who have lost five straight to fall to 6-6.
