Gustavus Picks Peter Haugen As Head Football Coach

ST. PETER, Minn. (AP) ― Peter Haugen is the new football coach at Gustavus.

Haugen leaves Minneapolis Washburn High School after 15 seasons. He succeeds Jay Schoenebeck at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school in St. Peter, where Schoenebeck coached 15 years.

Haugen is a 1991 graduate of Bethel, where he was a three-sport standout.

He went 111-44 at Washburn, winning 11 Minneapolis City Conference titles and a state tournament appearance in 2007. The Millers had 35 players on the team in 1994 and 110 players this year.

Haugen is the 17th head coach in the 93-year history of Gusties football.
