Minnesota Notches 4-1 WCHA Win Over Bemidji St.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ―
The Minnesota Gophers equaled their season total of power-play goals on Saturday, getting two in a 4-1 win over Bemidji State.
Mike Hoeffel scored his fifth goal of the season on the power play and added an assist for the Gophers (4-4-1), who handed Bemidji State (7-1-1) its first loss this season. Minnesota improved to 7-0 all-time against the Beavers, who are joining the Western Collegiate Hockey Association next season.
The Gophers were 2-for-35 on the power play coming in, but went 2-for-7 with a man advantage. Jordan Schroeder also had a power play tally at 13:35 of the third period.
Bemidji State went up 1-0 on Jordan George's goal at 3:03 of the first period. Minnesota goalie Alex Kangas made 21 saves.
Nico Sacchetti tied it at 4:29 of the first. Hoeffel reached 2-1 and Schroeder and Mike Carman scored in the third.
