Minnesota Beats Alaska-Anchorage 4-1 For Sweep
WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ―
Tony Lucia had a goal and an assist and Alex Kangas stopped 31 shots as Minnesota beat Alaska-Anchorage 4-1 Sunday for a sweep of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.
Kangas lost his shutout when Sean Wiles scored at 11:14 of the third period for the Seawolves (3-5-0, 1-3-0 WCHA).
Wiles' goal closed the gap to 3-1, but the Gophers iced it 19 seconds later on a goal by Jay Barriball.
Lucia netted his third goal of the weekend early in the second period for the Gophers, who beat the Seawolves 5-1 on Friday. Lucia also assisted on Patrick White's goal.
White scored at 12:31 of the first period to stake the Gophers (2-3-1, 2-3-1) to a 1-0 lead. Mike Hoeffel scored with 17 seconds left to make it 2-0.
UAA's Bryce Christianson had 27 saves for the Seawolves.
