Not many high school football teams get to bask in the thrill of playing when temperatures plummet during November. But it sure helps if your red-hot team has yet to lose a game.
Eden Prairie High School is enjoying an unbroken string of wins this season and a number one ranking in Class 5A.
The football team is set to face off against Minnetonka this Friday in the section finals.
"There's a rivalry because we have great respect for each other. I think they do a great job getting their program established over there," said Eden Prairie coach Mike Grant. "And we know that they're going to be well prepared, they're going to be well coached, they're going to be disciplined kids. They're not going to make mistakes. They're not going to give the game to you."
Grant also knows the secret to playing your best football in the postseason.
"You hope they maintain their focus, because it's easy to get distracted," said Grant. "When you get to this point in the section finals, one little letdown for a quarter or a half a quarter can cost you the opportunity to advance."
