Minn. Duluth Beats Minnesota 4-3 In OT

Minnesota (4-6-1, 3-5-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) had tied the game on Nico Sacchetti's power-play goal at 17:41 of the third period. But a penalty with six seconds left carried over into the extra period.

Minnesota-Duluth's Travis Oleksuk beat the clock and the Minnesota Gophers on Friday, scoring the game-winner with 12 seconds left in overtime.
Oleksuk pulled in a loose puck and slipped a wrister past Minnesota goalie Alex Kangas, lifting the Bulldogs to a 4-3 win.
Oleksuk's second goal of the season came after the Gophers had killed off a power play to start the overtime against the team with the most power-play goals in the nation.

But after successfully stopping the power play, the Gophers failed to clear the puck from in front of Kangas as time ran out and Oleksuk got the game-winner.
Jack Connolly, who shared the WCHA lead in scoring with teammate Justin Fontaine, scored two goals. Fontaine assisted on the winning goal.
Cody Danberg had a goal and an assist and Rob Bordson had two assists for UMD (8-4-1, 5-3-1). Bordson has a nation-best 16 assists.
After a scoreless first period, Jordan Schroeder and Jake Hansen gave the Gophers a 2-0 lead. But the Bulldogs netted the next three goals, including Connolly's ninth early in the third period.
Dating to March 2007, UMD is 32-0-3 when leading going into the third period.
