Augsburg Coach Is Back Where He Belongs

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― Maybe the best football player to come out of Sartell High School is Craig Sauer. Now, Sauer is coaching at Augsburg College in his first season and is in his comfort zone.

Sauer, who played the linebacker position, went on to play with for the University of Minnesota and later played in a Super Bowl for the Atlanta Falcons. He ended his football career with the Vikings in 2000.

Sauer talked about being a coach in the type of environment he used to enjoy as a player.

"It's nice to be around the atmosphere," said Sauer. "I think that is something you miss the most. It's difficult to find a different job that allows that type of atmosphere and to be around people that understand you."
