For the last day at the Metrodome, the Minnesota Twins are cleaning out their lockers before taking in the final moments of the place they've called home for so many years.
After a disappointing loss in Game Three of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees, Twins pitcher Joe Nathan ran out and grabbed some dirt off the pitcher's mound to sprinkle on Target Field. The home plate was dug up soon after and hauled away.
Stemming off the heartbreaking loss Sunday night, most of the players opted to clean out their lockers following the game.
But on Monday, the remaining players packed up their belongings for their final day at the Metrodome and reminisced on what memories they'll miss most.
"You know what they talk about when they talk about Dome magic," pitcher Scott Baker said. "It's just really incredible."
First baseman and right fielder Michael Cuddyer said the fan support from Sunday's game just can't be beat.
"Last night, with the 54,000 people here, you're not going to duplicate that anywhere else," he said. "The Target Field doesn't hold 54,000 people. It's going to be beautiful, it's going to be awesome, but I think the main thing I'm going to miss from the Metrodome, is the crowd."
