Minnesota Wild General Manager Doug Risebrough said he will wait to start trying to negotiate with Marian Gaborik until he sees how free agency falls, meaning in a week or two. And they have to decide what to do with Mark Parrish; a trade is possible.

The reason Tampa Bay Lightning went hard after Brian Rolston and landed Ryan Malone: the person now running the show, although not in title, is Brian Lawton who could end up the general manger with the new ownership.

The Minnesota Twins' Kevin Slowey has a ritual the day after games he pitches at home. He runs the steps of the Metrodome's lower concourse.

A pitcher that Slowey reminds some people of, Brad Radke, said he's getting ready to sell his Lake Minnetonka home and does not itch to play baseball again.

"No, don't miss the game. Too much of a grind. Miss the guys, that's about it. But don't miss it too much," said former Twins pitcher Radke.

The good news about top University of Minnesota football recruit Sam Maresh's open heart surgery is that they didn't have to open his rib cage and break his sternum for the procedure. They were able to make one incision and cut down only an inch-and-a-half so the healing process should be much quicker.

And for those of you who were wondering, yes, that was Lou Nanne acting as a marshal at the Women's U.S. Open at Interlachen Country Club over the weekend.

But he's worked out with a number of teams because of the interest of his size. He'll also probably be invited to several camps as a free agent.

Depending on who's available for the number three pick, some people inside the Timberwolves organization would not mind seeing them trade down because they don't believe there is that much difference between the number three overall pick and the number seven overall pick. And it might be an opportunity to unload a veteran's contract.

The team took a break from workouts on Monday for a game of paint ball.
