Feds Prepare For Retrial In Molotov Cocktail Case

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― Federal prosecutors are preparing for the retrial of man accused of making Molotov cocktails to use at the Republican National Convention by asking the court to limit what the defense can say about a state informant.

The 23-year-old David McKay from Austin, Texas, is accused of making and possessing eight Molotov cocktails during the RNC last year in St. Paul.

Prosecutors want to prevent McKay's attorney from telling jurors the informant, Brandon Darby, had allegedly once advocated using arson to fight property developers.

McKay's first trial ended in a hung jury. The retrial is scheduled to start March 16.

Defense attorney Jeffrey DeGree has argued that McKay and another man were entrapped.
