RNC Host Committee Sued By Fundraising Firm

ST. PAUL (AP) ― A fundraising firm is suing the host committee for the 2008 Republican National Convention, claiming the committee still owes it $761,000.

In a lawsuit filed in Ramsey County, 3 Dog Consulting says the host committee has paid it only about half the commissions it owes. The Alexandria, Va.-based firm says it raised more than $36 million for the convention, which ran Sept. 1-4 in St. Paul.

Host committee attorney John Knapp contends 3 Dog is claiming commissions on contributions raised outside the scope of its contract. He calls it an ordinary business dispute.

The firm says the committee agreed to pay $15,000 per month and 4 percent of what the firm raised from outside the state. That amounts to $1.4 million, but 3 Dog says it has received only $684,000.
