Workers are putting security barriers around the Ramsey County law enforcement complex, which is expected to hold protesters arrested during the Republican National Convention.
Sheriff Bob Fletcher says the entire campus is going to be surrounded by a 9-foot-tall security barrier.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the barrier was in place along the back of the complex and took in the sidewalk. The barrier has a 3-foot concrete base and 6 feet of fencing.
Fletcher says protesters arrested for misdemeanors will be processed in the first floor of the county's Emergency Communications Center. The building is next to the jail and has been turned into a temporary holding facility.
Fletcher expects anywhere from 600 to 1,800 arrests during the convention.
People arrested for felonies or gross misdemeanors will be booked into the jail.
