Hasbro Recalls About 330,000 Nerf Guns
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Hasbro Inc. are recalling 330,000 Nerf N-Strike Recon Blasters following reports of injuries.
Hasbro said the toy's blaster can injure the face, neck or chest if skin is caught in the plunger. So far, there have been 46 reports of injuries, such as bruising, abrasions, pinching, blood blisters and welts.
The recall is for the Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster for children at least 6 years old. Only blasters that have an exposed orange plunger are included in the recall.
The toy's model number is 63552.
The Consumer Product Safety Council and Hasbro Inc. are recalling about 330,000 Nerf N-Strike Recon Blasters after receiving about 50 reports of injuries to children.
Hasbro said users can suffer face, neck or chest injuries if skin is caught in the toy gun's plunger.
The recall is for the Nerf N-Strike Recon CS-6 Blaster, model number 63552 and UPC codes 653569272021 and 653569311218.
The toy was made for children 6 and older. It has a yellow body, black handle, and orange plunger, trigger and reload clip. Only models with an exposed orange plunger are involved in the recall.
The toy was sold for about $20 nationwide at Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, discount stores and toy stores from November 2007 though August 2008.
