Reality Check: Opening The E-Mail Inbox
(WCCO)
For many Minnesotans, the beginning of the Minnesota State Fair signals the end of the summer but for Pat Kessler, it's the unofficial beginning of the political campaign season. And hundreds of viewers have given Kessler your opinions.
Some of you blamed Reality Check when Pat Kessler reported the real reasons Jesse Ventura decided not to run for U.S. Senate. And a lot of the emails we can't publish or read on the air.
Mike's e-mail summed up many views.
"Shame on you Pat Kessler! f*** you and your g*** d***** kids!!" he wrote.
Here's a follow-up to all of that: Industry reports suggest Ventura never intended to run. He's been negotiating for his own television court show; a kind of "Judge Jesse."
There was also a lot of e-mail about Norm Coleman's bowling ads.
Some of you thought Reality Check missed the point about Norm Coleman's ad against Al Franken.
Ron wrote: "This will be his (Franken's) first elective office. Those bowlers are correct, they have as much experience as Mr. Franken."
Here's a list of recent Minnesotans with little or no public experience before they were elected:
Jesse Ventura, Paul Wellstone, Rod Grams and Rudy Boschwitz.
Kessler was a little surprised at how many of you reacted to the Reality Check on media bias. Kessler said Barack Obama gets a lot more coverage than John McCain, but that a lot of that coverage is negative.
William wrote he "can't take it anymore." In his words, William said Pat Kessler "consistently, and without fail uses the 'Reality Check' segment as an editorial to forward the liberal agenda."
However, many who e-mailed, like Eugene, say we're a "mouthpiece for conservatives."
Eugene wrote that "McCain has not received as much air time because the media is pro-McCain and hides his blunders, mistakes, and his anti-troop voting record."
Reality Check loves to read emails and keep sending them.
That's Reality Check.
