Reg Chapman Joins WCCO-TV News Team

Minneapolis/St. Paul (WCCO) ― Reg Chapman has joined WCCO 4 News, it was announced today by Scott Libin, WCCO TV News Director. Chapman will report from the field for WCCO TV's evening newscasts, beginning May 26th.

"Reg is an accomplished journalist with experience here, in New York City and in several other competitive television markets," said Libin. "I have found him to be a terrific team player, a strong storyteller and a resourceful reporter. We are proud to have him join our team."

"I've always admired WCCO TV's strong journalistic tradition in the way the station approached news stories and the quality of their reporting," said Chapman. "To work with the caliber of journalists like Don Shelby, Carolyn Lowe, Bill Hudson, Esme Murphy and Pat Kessler and to be a part of this journalistic community means so much to me. I'm a Midwestern boy and the opportunity to come back home is a dream come true."

Chapman is no stranger to Twin Cities viewers, having worked as a reporter at KSTP Channel 5 from 2002 to 2005. Chapman is noted for his Minnesota reporting on the crash that claimed the life of U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone and the Columbine-like school shootings at the Red Lake Indian Reservation. While working for WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, Chapman covered the crash of Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, and the rescue of coal miners in the same vicinity.

Chapman's television reporting experience includes WNBC in New York, WHIO in Dayton, Ohio; KTIV in Sioux City, Iowa; and WOWT in Omaha, Nebraska.

Chapman is an Army veteran of the first Gulf War, an Urban League Youth mentor, a volunteer for several other community organizations, and is the recipient of several journalism awards, including a regional Edward R. Murrow award, a regional Emmy nomination for investigating reporting, and the Black Achievers Award from the YMCA. He is also a member of Twin Cities Black Journalists, which is affiliated with the National Association of Black Journalists.

WCCO TV is part of the CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
