Liz Collin Named New WCCO-TV Weekend Anchor

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― WCCO-TV reporter Liz Collin has been named a weekend anchor, joining Dennis Douda on the weekend team starting Saturday, Jan. 31.

"Liz is a rock-solid reporter and an accomplished anchor," said WCCO-TV news director Scott Libin. "She's curious, smart, energetic and enterprising –- exactly the kind of journalist we want. And I can't think of anybody who has made a more immediate or positive impact on a newsroom than Liz has."

Liz joined WCCO-TV as a part-time reporter in June 2008. Within two months she was promoted to full-time status, reporting Monday through Friday for the 10 p.m. newscasts. She will continue to report for the 10 p.m. newscast Wednesday through Friday each week.

"In my hometown of Worthington, WCCO-TV is the station I grew up watching," said Liz. "Everywhere I've worked, WCCO is recognized as the best station in the country. I was always hoping and wishing I could come home -– this is a dream come true for me."

Before coming to WCCO-TV, Liz reported, anchored and produced at WHP-TV in Harrisburg, Pa. Prior to that, she was an anchor/reporter at KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, S.D. and KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kan.

Liz won a regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio-Television News Director Association. She won first place and special citation from the Education Writers Association. Her work has also been recognized by the Associated Press and the Kansas City Press Club.

WCCO-TV is part of the CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
