WCCO-TV Asks: Are You A Golf Nut?
The Search Is On!
Minneapolis/St. Paul (WCCO) ―
WCCO TV and the 2009 PGA Championship are looking for Minnesota's biggest "Golf Nut," it was announced today by Susan Adams Loyd, WCCO TV Vice President and General Manager. Contestants will compete in the first ever, "Golf Nut" tournament at Hazeltine National golf Club, the official site of the 2009 PGA tournament, in Chaska, Minnesota. The "Golf Nut" tournament will be televised on WCCO TV right before final round coverage of the 2009 PGA Championship on August 16.
"To say golf is popular in Minnesota would be an understatement," said Loyd. "We know there are golf nuts of every skill and fashion out there. We are looking for some real characters who love the game."
The "Golf Nut" tournament will be played like no other golf game you've ever seen. Prizes and surprises are in store for the players, some of which may improve scores, or potentially crush them! The winner of the 9- hole tournament takes home a pair of Champions Club tickets to the final round of the PGA Championship, and of course a trophy and the red jacket!
"This is going to be a lot of fun," said Scott Wooldridge, WCCO TV Director of Promotion and Production. "The show is kind of, 'game show meets golf'. We think the players and the viewers will love it."
"Golf Nut" wanna-bees will find complete details and guidelines for how to submit, along with official rules and information at
