Stillwater police said they'll seek charges against a 17-year-old boy in the theft of political yard signs.
The boy's father turned him in to police Monday night.
Police said in a news release the boy apparently dropped his cell phone in the yard of one of the residences where a sign was taken.
The homeowner turned the phone over to a local political candidate, who contacted a media outlet. The media outlet contacted the boy's father, who then confronted his son about the incident.
Most of the some 20 stolen signs related to the "vote no" campaign against the Stillwater School District levy. A note or essay was left behind at each of the thefts.
The boy is a senior at Stillwater High School.
