Al Franken To Highlight Service Dogs On Vets Day

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ― U.S. Sen. Al Franken is spending part of Veterans Day with a disabled Vietnam veteran and his service dog, Calvin.

Minnesota's junior Democratic senator will be on hand at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis on Wednesday. That's where Ken Stenzel will show others how Calvin has improved his quality of life.

Franken will also talk about the Service Dogs for Disabled Veterans Act, his first bill to become law.

The legislation established a pilot program and study for organizations that provide service dogs to disabled veterans.
