Congressman Jim Oberstar plans to ask the chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board some pointed questions about its investigation into last year's Interstate 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis.
Oberstar, a Minnesota Democrat, chairs the House Transportation Committee. Wednesday's hearing will be in the committee's aviation subcommittee.
Oberstar has clashed over the past few months with NTSB Chairman Mark Rosenker. Most recently, Oberstar criticized Rosenker and the board for deciding not to hold a public hearing on the collapse, which killed 13 people and injured 145.
Wednesday's congressional hearing will take up legislation to reauthorize the NTSB's operations over the next three years.

The original I-35W bridge over the Mississippi River opened in November 1967 and was 1,907 feet in length. The replacement bridge opened in September 2008 and measures 1,216 feet in length.
