Coleman Camp Seeks Look At Rejected Absentee Votes

ST. PAUL (AP) ― Republican Norm Coleman's campaign said it will push for a review of all 12,000 absentee ballots that were not counted in the U.S. Senate race.

In a statement Monday, attorney Fritz Knaak said he plans to bring the issue before a three-judge panel next week.

Knaak said he doesn't believe all the 12,000 ballots were wrongly rejected. But, Coleman's attorneys said the new proposal could bring as many as 7,000 ballots to the race.

The proposal is a change: When Coleman held an unofficial lead, his attorneys argued that rejected absentee ballots should not be part of the recount. Democrat Al Franken now leads by 225 votes.

The Franken campaign said it wouldn't respond to any proposal until the Coleman camp figures out exactly what it plans to do.
