Lawmaker Asks Auditor To Probe Minn. AG Remodel

ST. PAUL (AP) ― A Republican state senator is asking Minnesota's legislative auditor to investigate Democratic Attorney General Lori Swanson's office renovations.

Sen. David Hann of Eden Prairie seized Thursday on a WCCO-TV report into Swanson's repair and remodeling spending since her 2006 election, including the $15,000 installation of sound-proof doors.

Swanson said Wednesday that the heavy-duty doors stemmed from a security assessment of her office and Capitol-renovation protocol dictated their cost. Hann says more needs to be known about the security review as well.

Legislative Auditor James Nobles told The Associated Press on Wednesday that his regularly scheduled audit of the attorney general is due to begin shortly, but he doesn't expect it to focus on the remodeling expenses.
