Campaign Nastiness Comes To Medford Mayoral Race

MEDFORD, Minn. (AP) ― Campaign nastiness isn't confined this year to national and statewide races. It's even found in the small southern Minnesota town of Medford.

There someone has circulated an anonymous campaign poster against mayoral candidate Mike Corbin, a lawyer who specializes in bankruptcy and family law.

It says: "Do you know the difference between a carp and an attorney? One is a scum-sucking bottom dweller... The other one is a fish. Vote Thomas for Mayor."

The Thomas is Danny Thomas, Corbin's opponent. He says he has no clue where the posters came from, he thinks they are wrong and he's asking supporters to tear them up.

The fine print on the poster says it's not affiliated in any way with Thomas, but doesn't say who's behind it.

Corbin says he has a suspicion, but he's not naming names. He laughs and says that as a lawyer he's been called worse.
