Minnesota Republicans say they'll wage a television ad campaign to remind voters that the Democratic-led Legislature approved the state's first gas tax increase in 20 years.
Republican Party Chairman Ron Carey debuted the ad at a Capitol news conference Monday. He said the party was purchasing a "significant" amount of air time in targeted parts of the state. He declined to be more specific and it was unclear if any ad time had actually been reserved.

House Majority Leader Tony Sertich says the ad amounts to political spin because it doesn't mention that the bill passed with the support of some Republicans and the business lobby. Every Democrat and eight Republicans voted for it.
Sertich says he doubted House Democrats would respond with their own ads.
