A 34-year-old tax attorney is set to challenge Democratic Representative Betty McCollum in Minnesota's 4th Congressional District.
Republican delegates unanimously picked Ed Matthews of St. Paul at an endorsing convention Saturday in South St. Paul.
McCollum, who received nearly 70 percent of the vote in the 2006 election, is seeking a fifth term in Congress.
The 4th District covers Ramsey County and parts of Dakota and Washington counties. No Republican has held the seat for 60 years.
In Minnesota's 5th District, Republicans have chosen ordained minister Barb Davis White to challenge Democratic Representative Keith Ellison. White will have a similar challenge -- no Republican has beat a Democratic incumbent in the 5th District for decades.
