Senate Passes Coleman Childhood Cancer Bill

WASHINGTON (AP) ― A bill to battle childhood cancer is on its way to President Bush.

Senator Norm Coleman says the Senate passed the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2007.

Coleman, a Minnesota Republican, first introduced the bill in March 2006. The bill unanimously passed the House last month.

The bill provides $30 million per year through 2013 to help research pediatric cancers, create a national childhood cancer database, and increase information support for families affected by childhood cancer.

Coleman calls the bill's passage "a monumental step in the fight against childhood cancer."
