2 Charged With Mistreating Goat Found In Car Trunk

(WCCO) Two people have been charged with mistreating a goat that was painted purple, had its legs tied together and was put in a trunk of a car.

Janelle Riopel of St. Paul and Sonny Yang of LaCrosse, Wis., were each charged with two misdemeanor counts related to mistreatment of animals.

Each will receive a citation through the mail. Once they receive the citation, their first court appearance will be scheduled.

The animal was found in the car trunk at Tires Plus in Winona last Friday, after Riopel stopped to get a belt replaced on her car. While doing paperwork, she said she had a goat in her trunk that she planned on butchering.

The goat was painted with Minnesota Viking colors and had Brett Favre's No. 4 shaved on its side.

It was taken by animal control, brought to a vet and placed in foster care.
