An indoor bridge at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., collapsed Tuesday morning, sending as many as a dozen people plunging into Lake Michigan.
The bridge collapsed just before 8 a.m., Hammond fire officials told CBS station WBBM-TV in Chicago.
The collapse sent 10 to 12 people into Lake Michigan. Most of them suffered cuts and bruises, but one might have suffered a spinal injury, fire officials said.
Two ambulances were sent to the scene, and may have transported some of those injured, fire officials said.
The bridge connects the old casino complex with the new building. Construction on the new building was temporarily stopped, and investigators from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration were expected to be called to the scene.
The casino closed to the public on Monday and is scheduled to reopen on Saturday.
