Bill Carlson with wife Nancy Nelson at the Minnesota State Fair.
Nancy Nelson
We wanted to find a way to say think you to each and every one of you, and have you understand how personally we mean it.
Please, never underestimate the tremendous impact you had on Billy's life. Those of you who knew him personally you shaped his life you helped him to be the man he was, and wanted to be. He loved you.
And those of you Billy never met he considered you a treasured friend. You tuned in and watched, day after day, year after year, decade after decade. Billy lived in constant gratitude to you. Without you, he wouldn't have been able to get up every morning and go to do the job he so dearly loved. He knew that. He thanks you.
We are quite overwhelmed by all of the attention and outpouring for Billy. The most wonderful thing about it is, that it shows YOU GOT IT
..my how that pleases Billy. My beloved humble husband who would never presume to preach or instruct, he simply lived his life, every moment of it, as an example of how a fulfilled and meaningful life could be, perhaps should be, lived. Your calls and messages and cards and letters show YOU GOT IT.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Although Billy is certainly with us, he can't speak the words he might
.
So, on behalf of Billy, let us share the mantra of his daily life.
Live every moment in gratitude
Make a difference with gentleness, kindness, compassion and empathy, and make these the core of your being
Live understanding happiness, and joy, is not a state of mind, it is a constant, committed way of life
Never miss an opportunity to say "Thank you," "You matter," "I love you"
Be dedicated to loving and protecting and offering help to the most fragile among us
Treat everyone with the dignity and respect their humanity deserves. Never judge, and always forgive.
Remember the impact you have on all around you with your words and actions and deeds; be certain they are always kind
Know that in all instances, no matter how adverse a situation or what difficulty befalls you, that you have a choice as to how you handle it, what you do with it
Love the animals, protect them, let no harm or pain come to them
Hug and kiss and hold hands and laugh a lot, out loud, with everyone
Live the Golden Rule, every moment, every day:
DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU
Grasp the meaning, and take action, in the Buckminster Fuller quote "For God to
me, it seems, is a verb, not a noun"
A life so nobly lived, so impacting on all who knew him, and on the many he reached through his work. The lessons Bill Carlson exemplified and taught us. Pay it Forward
BLESS YOU BLESS YOU ALL.
Nancy, Bill's wife, daughter Susie, sister Judy, and Bill's entire family.
