A Minnesota family has hired an immigration attorney as they try and keep a teenager from being deported.
Win Tran came to the U.S. from Vietnam to live with Patrick Hallahan and his family and to go to high school in Minnesota.
The Hallahans thought they had adopted Win, but paperwork was not completed by the time he was 16 years old, and an I-20 document giving him legal status has expired.
On Wednesday, Win had to leave Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria where he was a senior and go back to Holy Trinity in Winsted while the process gets resolved.
The Hallahans are also working with Minnesota U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar's office.
