A new superintendent has been named for Voyageurs National Park.
The National Park Service says Michael Ward will take over on August 17. He'll replace Kate Miller, who retired earlier this year.
Ward has been serving as superintendent of Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site in St. Louis.
The Illinois native says he made a work visit to Voyageurs in 1992 and fell in love with the park and surrounding area.
Voyageurs, which borders Canada, was established in 1971 and is Minnesota's only national park.
