Murder Charges Upgraded For Two Harbors Man

EVELETH, Minn. (WCCO) ― Charges have been upgraded to first-degree murder for a Two Harbors man accused of stabbing a young woman to death in her workplace in Eveleth, Minn.

A grand jury has indicted 30-year-old Jesaiah Carlson with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of Megan Anderson in August 2007.

St. Louis County prosecutor Gordon Coldagelli says Carlson was arraigned Monday, when he pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $1 million.

Carlson was previously charged with second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of attempted criminal sexual conduct.

The 20-year-old victim was found dead in a sign shop. The criminal complaint says Carlson was selling children's books and cutting boards in the area around the time of the killing.
