Toddler Critical After Found Submerged In Bathtub
ST. PAUL (WCCO) ―
An 18-month-old girl is in intensive care at Children's Hospital in St. Paul after she was found submerged in a bathtub Wednesday morning.
Police were called to a report of a child not breathing at the 1600 block of Darlene Street around 11:30 a.m. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the girl and took her to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.
St. Paul Police Sgt. Paul Schnell said the girl and her 3-year-old sibling were left alone in a bathtub at their foster home on the east side of St. Paul. Another adult came into the bathroom, found the child underwater and called 911.
"It's an active investigation," Schnell said.
He said it could take some time to determine whether there will be any charges in this case. He said officers don't know yet how long the children were left unattended or how long the girl was underwater.
