Deputy Cleared In Swim Trunk Shooting Back At Work

LE CENTER, Minn. (AP) ― The Le Sueur County sheriff's deputy who was recently cleared of wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a man in his swimming trunks is back on the job.

Sheriff David Gliszinski says he's confident in Deputy Todd Waldron's work and professionalism.

Waldron was on paid leave while the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated the July shooting of 24-year-old Tyler Heilman. Last week a grand jury convened and after two hours declined to indict him.

Waldron was working in plain clothes the afternoon of July 20 when he confronted Heilman about driving erratically in Kasota. There was a scuffle, and Waldron fired.

Heilman's family has said they are considering a lawsuit against Waldron.
