Wis. Students, Staff To Return From Thailand

LODI, Wis. (AP) ― Lodi, Wis. high school students and staff stuck in Thailand during anti-government protests will return to Wisconsin on Sunday.

Nine students and three staff members were among thousands of tourists stranded when protesters occupied two airports in Bangkok last week. They had been on a three-week exchange program.

Lodi High School principal Laura Love says the students and staff were never in harm's way. She says they were about 75 miles southeast of Bangkok when the protests started.

The group now plans to fly from Phuket to Singapore Friday, then from Tokyo to Chicago on Saturday and return to Lodi late Sunday.

Love says she's been in constant contact with the group. She says they've been "treated like royalty" and have not seen any violence.
