A group of students from a Minnesota college who were stuck in Bangkok due to political unrest has secured flights out.
Sherry and Steven Lagoon of Woodbury, Minn. said their daughter Hannah was among the Northwestern College students and faculty stranded there.
The group was in Thailand on a trip to teach English and build a Bible college.
Just as the group was scheduled to leave Thailand, protesters shut down Bangkok's two airports, leaving the group stranded.
On Monday, Northwestern officials notified parents that the students were flying out of Thailand on flights bound for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The flights will then take them to their next intended destination in Japan.
The Lagoon family said Northwestern told them Hannah was on the first flight out, which included roughly half the group. The other half were scheduled to leave on another flight a few hours later.
