SE Minn. Teacher Charged With Indecency

ZUMBROTA, Minn. (AP) ― Update: July 20, 2009: The charges against Joseph V. Halvorson were dropped on July 10, 2009. His attorney's cited that during the time of the incident, Halvorson was still logged onto his computer at work, thus giving him an alibi.

A Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School teacher is charged with indecent exposure after he reportedly exposed himself to a bus full of high school girls.

The criminal complaint says members of the Cannon Falls High School softball team say a man drove up alongside the bus and exposed his genitals on April 22.

One witness told police the man was driving so close to the bus that she thought he would collide with it.

The license plate on the car led police to 32-year-old Joseph V. Halvorson. Witnesses also picked him out of a photo lineup.

Halvorson told police that while he drove a car that matched the one described, he didn't expose himself. A telephone number for Halvorson could not be found Friday.

Goodhue County prosecutors charged the first-year Spanish teacher with two counts of indecent exposure and one count of disorderly conduct.
