Montevideo 4th Grader Drowns During School Outing

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. (WCCO) ― Counselors and social workers will be on hand after a Montevideo 4th grader drowned during a school outing last Friday.

According to Superintendent David Baukol, the Sanford Elementary School students were at the Kilowatt Center in Granite Falls as a reward for performance.

During the swim outing, Eddie Ojer was found underwater. CPR attempts were performed, but paramedics were unable to revive Ojer at the scene.

He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

School officials were notified that Ojer had died on Sunday.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Grief counselors will be at the school Monday to help students and faculty.
