Eden Prairie Student Collapses, Dies

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) ― A 10-year-old student died in Eden Prairie while participating in the Oak Point Run Club Friday night, according to Eden Prairie school officials.

The Oak Point Intermediate School student, Joshua Damptey, collapsed during the event and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"We send our heartfelt condolences to Joshua's family. We are incredibly saddened by the news of his death," said Superintendent Melissa Krull in a prepared statement.

Counselors will be on hand Monday at Eden Prairie schools.
