Pawlenty: State Of Emergency In Washington County

HUGO, Minn. (AP) ― Governor Pawlenty has declared a state of emergency for Washington County after the storm that killed a toddler and flattened dozens of houses.

The governor and other public officials toured part of the county this afternoon -- including the hardest hit part in the town of Hugo.

The National Weather Service says a tornado swept through Hugo, killing 2-year-old Nathaniel Prindle and destroying or damaging dozens of homes.

Pawlenty's order directs state agencies to help local governments as they recover from the storm.
