1 Dead In St. Croix County Crash

(WCCO) A man died in a truck accident Wednesday after he failed to stop at a stop sign, police said.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office said Larry Scheel, 55, of New Richmond was on 220th Street in Emerald Township around 10:50 a.m. when he ran a stop sign and was broadsided by another truck.

Scheel's pickup overturned into a ditch and the other truck, driven by Roger Fisher, 48, came to rest in a field near the intersection.

Scheel was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in Scheel's vehicle, John Brazille, 54, was brought to Regions Hospital with serious injuries.

Fisher was brought to Baldwin Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

None of the men were wearing seat belts.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
