Minn. Man To Skydive For Parkinson's Fund-Raiser

ST. PAUL (AP) ― A Minnesota man plans to jump from an airplane 100 times this week to raise money for Parkinson's disease.

Kevin Burkart of Shakopee said it's a tribute to his father, Gary Burkart. The elder Burkart was diagnosed with Parkinson's nine years ago.

The jumps will take place in about a 12-hour period on Wednesday -- that's a little more than eight jumps per hour. Burkart will jump at Skydive Twin Cities, which is located about 40 miles east of the Twin Cities in western Wisconsin.

Burkart has been skydiving for about seven years and has made about 700 jumps. He borrowed the idea from "Jump for a Cause," a skydiving event that raises breast cancer research money.

Burkart said he hopes his fund-raiser will generate about $40,000.
