Man Murdered, 2 Men Arrested In Blaine
BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) ―
Two people have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in Blaine, Minn.
Blaine Police were called to the Restwood Terrace Trailer Park, on the 3600 block of 91st Lane Northeast, around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.
When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Ryan James Felt of Champlin in the street with apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died.
Police arrested one suspect after pulling over a car nearby Tuesday morning. A second one was picked up at his mother's home on Dunlap Avenue in Lexington. It's just a short distance from the scene of the shooting.
Nineteen-year-old Zachary Heineck and 18-year-old Nicholas Lindsey are in the Anoka County Jail facing formal criminal charges.
"We had information as to where the individual may have fled," said Blaine Police Chief Chris Olson. "I think we are familiar with them."
The Anoka County Sheriff's SWAT team was brought into to help with the arrest of the suspect on Dunlap Avenue. They also used tear gas when he did not come out.
Investigators spent much of the day sifting through that house and trash cans, bushes and yards near the murder scene, searching for evidence.
With two suspects locked up, police still don't know why the shooting happened.
"At this point, don't know what truly led up to the actual shooting. They knew each other but what caused it I am not sure," said Olson.
A visitation for Felt will be held Friday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Holcomb Henry Funeral Home in Shoreview. The funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., also at the funeral home.
