Ex-Teacher Gets 12 Years For Sex With Student

LE CENTER, Minn. (AP) ― A former teacher and coach in the Montgomery-Lonsdale School District has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for having sex with a student.
  
Thirty-six-year-old Troy Bernard was a fifth-grade teacher in the Montgomery-Lonsdale School District and coached high school track and volleyball.
  
He was accused of having sex with the girl from July 2006 to May 2007 at his Montgomery home -- beginning when she was 14.
  
Bernard apologized before the sentencing. He must serve at least eight years before being eligible for parole.
