Seagren Tours Minn. With Draft Science Standards

ST. PAUL (AP) ― With revised school science standards in the works, the Minnesota Department of Education is hosting a series of town hall meetings around the state to get public feedback.

The first forum is Monday in Fergus Falls. The meetings will be conducted by Education Commissioner Alice Seagren and a committee working to revise the kindergarten through high school science expectations. They will present a proposed draft.

The standards cover the themes and concepts for mastery in earth science, physical science and life science. They provide the backbone for state tests in science.

Monday night's meeting will be followed by five others through September 25. They will be in Bemidji, Rochester, Duluth, Marshall and Roseville.
