Man With Fake Gun Enters St. Louis Park School

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (WCCO) ― A man carrying a replica handgun entered St. Louis Park Senior High School Wednesday morning.

According to principal Robert Metz, the man entered the school at about 9:15 a.m. He approached a faculty member and asked for directions to the student office.

Metz said several students noticed the man carrying what appeared to be a handgun. The school's liaison officer arrested the man without incident. Police said he was in possession of a replica firearm.

St. Louis Park Police took the man into custody.

The man has now been identified as 26-year-old Shaundarius Morris Spann. He is a former St. Louis Park student and told officers he was at the school seeking a copy of his transcripts.

School officials are still investigating how Spann entered the building, as he got in through a door that should have been locked.

Spann was booked at the St. Louis Park Police Department and is currently being held at the Hennipen County Jail pending formal charges.
